It started with one mural
In the summer of 2025, artists Sean Madden and Kimberly Winn painted the old Irmo High School Yellow Jacket mascot on the side of Mathia’s Sandwich Shop. Brent Chitwood and I power-washed and primed the wall to keep costs down, and neighbors and local groups, including the Irmo Arbor Day Committee, covered the rest. The response was so strong that we held the first interest meeting that August, and the Greater Irmo Art Guild was born.

Today the guild focuses on public art projects, community events and opportunities for artists of every level, from first-timers to professionals.
