SHAbout Dr. Scott Herring
Dr. Scott Herring is vice chair of the board and holds a Lexington County seat. He is Professor of Percussion at the University of South Carolina School of Music, where he leads the USC Percussion Ensemble, and he holds degrees from East Carolina University and Northwestern University. He moved to the district more than 20 years ago, and has children in district schools and a spouse who teaches. He was elected in November 2024 with the most votes in the Lexington County race. His stated priorities include recruiting and keeping teachers, protecting teachers’ planning time, school safety and fair facilities across schools.
