Concept model of Woodrow St at Moseley Ave · parcel lines and 2 ft contours from Lexington County
We have great neighborhoods, good schools and plenty of places to shop, but nowhere that feels like the heart of town. No street where you park once and walk, run into a neighbor, grab coffee, and stay for music in the evening.
What if we had a main street? This model imagines one on Woodrow Street, along the railroad where Irmo began as a water stop for trains, at Moseley Avenue. (Railroad official Mr. Moseley is the “Mo” in Irmo.) Shops and restaurants with homes above, a courtyard for markets and concerts, and parking behind the buildings instead of in front.
Parcel lines and ground contours come from Lexington County mapping. The buildings, businesses and signs are made up to show the feel of the place.
This is a starting point, not a plan. Tell me what you like, what you’d change and what Irmo’s main street should have. Every answer comes straight to me.
